Full Job Description
Day to day responsibility for patients on the assessment wards/Medical SDEC.
+ Take part in consultant ward rounds.
+ Ensure that patient medical case notes are properly completed, drug prescriptions are regularly reviewed, appropriate investigates are carried out and the results acted upon - and made available for consultant ward rounds.
+ Ensure that GP electronic discharge letters containing all relevant information are completed and sent in a timely manner.
+ Support the teaching of medical students.
+ Attend >60% of the formal education events including audit meetings.
+ Attendance at basic life support training
+ Comply with contracted hours.
+ The post holder will be allocated an educational supervisor who will provide regular appraisals.
+ Adhere to Trust and Directorate policies and protocol.
The job description of intended as an outline only and may be subject to change according to the need of the service and in consultation with the post-holder., The main service commitments of the Senior Clinical Fellow will be, under the supervision of the Consultants, to supervise the FY2s/CT1s and Junior Clinical Fellows, while maintaining a 'hands on' approach with patients to include:
+ Take a history and examine a patient
+ Identify and synthesize problems
+ Prescribe
+ Keep an accurate and relevant medical record
+ Manage time and appropriately prioritize tasks
+ Use evidence, guidelines and audit to benefit patient care
+ Act in a professional manner at all times
+ Work in a multi-disciplinary team
+ Manage acutely unwell patients
