Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Applied Psychologist to work in South Staffordshire, to deliver OPD services for people with complex personality difficulties in the justice system.
You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership for the South Staffordshire OPD service, leading on case identification, case consultation and formulation, workforce development and joint casework.
We can offer you a strong commitment to supervision and appraisals to support your CPD whilst you are in post. You will be joining an established and friendly group of OPD Clinical Leads, for whom clinical supervision, peer support and continuing professional development are an integral part of clinical practice.
We invite applications from Clinical or Forensic Practitioner Psychologists from diverse backgrounds to join the team, as part of our expanding Health and Justice Services. Whilst this is a part-time post, additional hours may be available for anyone looking for full time hours., The Clinical Lead has a key role in providing the psychologically-led OPD service for high risk people on probation who also experience complex personality difficulties.
The main tasks include, offering a consultation service to Probation Service staff, developing formulations to support psychologically informed sentence management, developing and delivering staff training, offering reflective practice, and time limited joint working with people on probation and their probation practitioner.
The service is delivered to Probation Service staff in Tamworth, Stafford and Burton-upon-Trent., This provision will focus on supporting the effective management and engagement of these service users whilst in the community.
The South Staffordshire OPD service provides a Core Offender Management (CORE-OM) service, delivering consultation, training, formulation and joint casework support to the Probation Service (PS).
Within the Core-OM provision, to ensure the development, implementation and delivery of systematic provision of a highly specialised psychological service to Probation staff.
To provide a high quality service embedded within the Probation Service, supporting evidence-based screening of caseloads, the facilitation of individual and group consultation and formulation meetings and the promotion of workforce development through the delivery of training to a range of staff including partner agencies and allied professionals.
There will also be a requirement to contribute to multiagency working where appropriate, for example through attendance at MAPPA meetings and liaising with Community Mental Health Teams.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision, including the supervision of the Assistant Psychologist.
To carry out audit, policy and service development and research activities and/or programmes.
The service also provides opportunities for developing specialism in particular aspects of service delivery, for example working with women, engaging young people, or promoting trauma-informed approaches.
