Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, experienced and forward thinking Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to fulfil the role of Clinical Lead Therapist within the Discharge to Assess and Supported Discharge Team in South Cumbria.

This is newly created fixed term contract working alongside the existing therapy team manager/team lead , this role will include clinical leadership of the teams alongside some operational and management responsibilities, to support the the day-to-day running of the service and the operational requirements of supporting leadership in service transformation and improvements.

While the focus of this role is on the delivery of high quality, evidence based and effective clinical services, the post holder will be required to support with shared management responsibilities which will include management of team absence, annual leave, incident reports, risk assessments, and managing the e-roster.

The post will be based in South Lakes or Furness with a requirement to travel between sites and provide cover into North Lancashire when required. Experience of highly effective multi-disciplinary team working is an essential leadership requirement of this role.

The post holder will support the training and development of therapy colleagues in the team., Responsibility for the clinical leadership and management of the day-to-day delivery of services, including supporting the development of the service, managing issues relating to HR, colleague absence, completing appraisals, probation reports, performance and compliance with Care Quality Commission Standards.

Working alongside of the Team Leader/Manager and with colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of a coordinated, multidisciplinary service. This includes planning, delivering, evaluating and development of the services for which they are responsible.

Be responsible and accountable for providing therapy assessment and treatment to patients with diverse health needs, who may have complex and / or chronic conditions, in a variety of community settings.

Monitoring and analysing performance data against agreed targets for the team.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
