Full Job Description

The successful applicant will assist in providing specialist pain management within a multidisciplinary team, and managing patients with acute and chronic pain conditions to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care.
The IPMS is a busy and friendly multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals based in the West Suffolk Hospital and the Community, providing interventional, pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies to assist patients with pain management.
If you have the necessary skills, and an interest in pain management and the qualities to help us to put patients first, please contact Dawn Pretty, Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (on ) for an informal discussion or to arrange a visit., The key elements of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role are to assist in the provision of quality pain management across the Trust through comprehensive clinical, educational, audit and research initiatives.
Under supervision of senior CNS' the successful candidate will manage a case load of patients receiving direct referrals from consultant staff, junior medical staff, nursing staff and other allied health professionals (AHP's). Excellent organisational skills are essential with the ability to plan, organise, prioritise and co-ordinate work under pressure when working alone or in collaboration with others., To support the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist and members of the multidisciplinary team in the delivery and
development of the Integrated Pain Management Service (IPMS), at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
To assist in the provision of quality pain management across the Trust through comprehensive clinical, educational,
audit and research initiatives.

As a member of the team you will provide education and information for patients and/or their carers in the management of acute and chronic pain, promoting their understanding and the ability to evolve strategies for self management. You will participate in the delivery of clinical education sessions to all members of the multi-professional team to promote effective use of pain standards, policies, protocols, guidelines and clinical equipment.
