Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available to work as an altered airways clinical nurse specialist. The CNS acts as a key worker, providing an expert nursing service to patients with a tracheostomy or laryngectomy, alongside the multi-professional team. Candidates must have at least 18 months post registration experience and a passion for airway management and delivering excellent patient care. They must demonstrate confidence within this field and be a team worker and motivated towards delivering high standards. They will be supported in decision making and improve knowledge and skills by working with the wider MDT team. Candidates must have clinical skills such as competence for tracheostomy changes. They must be confident to deliver teaching and support to patients and their families. They can expect to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings., Be a key worker for a patient group, including head and neck cancer and a range of specialties, to plan and action patient care including routine tracheostomy changes.
Work autonomously in managing a case load of patients including nurse led clinics.
Act as a specialist resource for knowledge and delivering teaching sessions to Trust staff.
