Full Job Description

At Birmingham Hospice our teams are committed to improving quality of life for people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families and loved ones during one of the most challenging periods they will ever face., To provide a specialist palliative care nursing service to patients, families, carers and health professionals by:

Demonstrating clinical knowledge of the principles and practice of palliative care

Working as an autonomous practitioner in palliative care

Managing a caseload of patients within the community setting as the specialist palliative care nurse providing advice and support as part of the multidisciplinary team

Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, clinically effective care

Participate in quality improvement initiatives such as audit, research and evidenced based practice and service development projects

To participate in weekend working when required

We are seeking a professional and caring Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join our busy community team, based in Selly Park. The CNS will work across the city and may be required to travel to our other site in Erdington from time to time. As a CNS you will provide specialist palliative care nursing services to our patients, families cares and other health professionals.

You will provide expert clinical practice, giving support, empathy, time, and reassurance to our patients and their loved ones, as well as demonstrating effective practice in holistic assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care for patients.

You will actively contribute to multidisciplinary working and will be able to recognise the importance of knowledge and learning to maintain standards in palliative care. You will be comfortable working as an autonomous palliative care practitioner and will be required to manage a caseload of patients within the community setting.
