Full Job Description

The Endocrinology Speciality at Royal Cornwall Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Endocrinology, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert care to patients with endocrine disorders. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and support.

This post is available as a developmental Band 6 or if you hold a non-medical prescribing qualification this will be a Band 7 role. This post will be part of a new and developing service supporting the Endocrinology Service with prescribing among other elements.

This is a part time role working 25 hours per week., The post holder will be responsible for delivering and developing aspects of the endocrine service in line with local and national initiatives and service need.

The post holder will be able to take a relevant history and clinical assessment in order to develop a management plan and evaluate the progress of that plan within the limitations of their knowledge and skills while being supported by medical and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. They will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon established guidelines.

The post holder will be a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support the wider Endocrine Multi professional Team.

The post holder will coordinate endocrine dynamic function tests.

The post holder will own their own case load, have face to face and telephone assessments.

The post holder will review thyroid and complex endocrine medications.

The post holder will complete audits of endocrine specialist services.

The post holder will develop and lead new local and national initiatives and research in endocrinology.
