Full Job Description

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner and effectively co-ordinate and deliver an expert nursing service in Breast Cancer.

  • To manage a caseload of patients ensuring a high standard of evidence based nursing, oncological management and discharge

  • To ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support

  • To lead the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines

  • To establish clear lines of communication within the specialty team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients.

  • To play a lead role in the operational development of both in / out patient services for lung cancer patients.


  • To provide expert advice and leadership to all members

    Minimum 5 years post registration experience in a Cancer related area, Good working knowledge of Breast Cancer and the treatment pathway which patients follow,
  • Advanced Communication Skills

  • Ability to work alone and under pressure

  • Ability to manage complex situations both clinically and in terms of administration

  • Presentation Skills (often have to present at MDT)


  • Desirable criteria

    Understanding of management of data,
  • Proven clinical skills & sound knowledge base in Breast Oncology and Knowledge of Cancer patient

  • Experience and ideas of how Barts Health can improve position

  • Ist Level Breast Cancer Course


  • Desirable criteria
  • Physical Assessment Course

  • Nurse Prescribing Course

  • Chemotherapy Course, Registered Nurse

  • Degree Qualification in Breast Cancer Related topic.

  • Nurse education qualification

  • Masters qualification or evidence of work at masters level
