Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre tojoin our innovative and dynamic Germ cell and Sarcoma CNS Team. This is a 0.8 WTE permanent position, hours can be negotiated but Thursday and Friday would be core days to the role. The post will focus mainly on Germ Cell patients but with some cross cover for Sarcoma., The Clinical Nurse Specialist team works closely with all BHOC inpatient and outpatient teams, as well as teams in other centres, providing expert knowledge, support and coordination of care. The team also works closely with the consultant team in providing a high standard of care for TYA (teenage and young adults) as well as adults with a diagnosis of Germ cell and Sarcoma. Within this role you will manage your own caseload, carry out Holistic Need Assessment Clinics and Nurse Led Telephone Clinics., The post holder will work as an important member of the Sarcoma and Germ cell Multidisciplinary Teams within University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust across the community. The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients (in-patient and out-patient) and their family, throughout the care pathway.

The post holder will utilise skills of clinical expertise, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff. They will provide advice, support and information from the time of diagnosis and throughout the patients pathway, which can be complex and split over three different sites, within Bristol and the Southwest.

They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit and research.

The post holder will engage and lead discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings, including the Teenage and Young People MDT meeting, where appropriate and in the absence of the B7 CNS, will present patients acting as an advocate for all patients with a diagnosis of Sarcoma or Germ Cell and contributing to the transition from Paediatric to adult services where appropriate., welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who is enthusiastic, dynamic, and self-motivated and has a background in cancer nursing. You must have excellent communication skills, strong IT skills and a willingness to go the extra mile.
