Full Job Description

To initiate and deliver pain management to patients throughout the Trust primarily in acute pain but also assisting patients with, acute in chronic, chronic, and palliative pain management problems as appropriate. To practice in post-operative critical care, providing a high level of skilled clinical care to all patients with support and guidance from Senior Clinical Pain Specialist Nurse.

  • To work as a practitioner to support the effective delivery of a nursing service within the specialist area
  • To manage a caseload of patients/clients
  • To ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support
  • To contribute to the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines
  • To establish clear lines of communication within the specialty team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients
  • To link with other healthcare teams to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of this group of people in all healthcare settings.
  • Post holder is required to fully participate in shifts and flexibly cover cross sites to meet clinical service requirements., We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our pain team who is enthusiastic and dynamic with a strong passion and interest in pain management. Candidates must have an interest on pain management and how to improve patient experience and patient care. A background of teaching and supporting staff in the clinical areas is essential so as advance skills in pain management.
  • You will be involved in service and patient pathway development initiatives to improve pain management across the trust. You should have excellent communication skills, experience in teaching and audit. There will be opportunities to develop you within the pain management nursing such as: audits, publishing articles, attending conferences etc The pain service works with diverse teams across the trust but also has the support of our Trust Consultant Lead for Acute Pain Services.
