Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Congenital Heart Disease

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical nurse specialist team in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) at the Royal Brompton Hospital. The post holder will join the existing ACHD clinical nurse specialist and work as a key member of a successful multidisciplinary team including cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, physiologists and administrative staff. All team members are supported in their professional development and encouraged to take an active role in service development
The role will be based at Royal Brompton Hospital but with clinical work at taking place in outreach clinics within the network., This role will primarily support the inpatient and outpatient service with nurse led clinics for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease service.
The post holder will be expected to be autonomous in their clinical practice and work with the multi-disciplinary team members., In partnership with members of the multidisciplinary nursing team the post holder will develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist service, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care. They act as a lead specialist and will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service, providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and patients. The post holder will actively undertake clinical audits and research within the specialist area.
The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. Also ensures the safety and wellbeing of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.
