Full Job Description
The Nottingham Metabolic Service is undergoing an exciting period of expansion.
We are seeking a dynamic individual who has an interest in working in a specialist and learning-rich environment, who can demonstrate compassion and empathy for our children, young people and their families. The individual will be joining an expanding multi-professional team as we begin to collaborate with Leicester to form the East Midland's Paediatric Metabolic Service.
If you would like to work in a friendly environment and are motivated and enthusiastic about making a difference to the care of patients with inherited metabolic disorders, we would like to hear from you!
As a metabolic clinical nurse specialist, you will liaise and co-ordinate the care for patients with inherited metabolic disorders. You will be expected to work alongside the consultants and wider multi-professional team through the attendance at MDT meetings and through co-ordinating and attending speciality clinics.
You will be an advocate for the patient and their family, discussing treatment and surveillance plans with them and supporting them to understand the treatment pathway.
You will be expected to work without supervision. The role includes working collaboratively with Leicester Children's Hospital, in addition to supporting the District General Hospitals across the East Midlands to ensure our patients receive high quality care.
Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) became the first Children's Hospital in Europe to achieve ANCC pathway to excellence accreditation in 2020. This makes NCH a special place to work, not only does this show that we provide excellent care to patients and their families, it is also recognition that we have fantastic teams, leadership at all levels and a huge array of development opportunities.
