Full Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated pharmacist who wants to be part of an exciting future for pharmacy service development? Do you relish the opportunity to work in a busy and progressive Pharmacy Department committed to the provision of quality pharmaceutical care? Do you agree our patient's safety and experience should be our priority? If so look no further., 1. Provide a high quality ward based clinical pharmacy service, rotating through nine 4 month rotations in cardiology/stroke/vascular surgery, endocrine/respiratory, gastroenterology/GI surgery, acute medicine, dispensary, geriatrics, trauma & orthopaedics, critical care/women & children and aseptic/oncology/haematology/clinical trials. This includes reviewing drug charts for safety and efficiency, drug history taking and medicines reconciliation, medicine supply, patient medication consultations, medicines optimisation services, discharge medication service (DMS) and any other activities associated with medicines management.

1. Participate in departmental and regional education and training programmes. In particular to undertake study towards obtaining the Certificate/Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.

1. Provide pharmaceutical advice on both supply and clinical issues to other healthcare professionals as requested.

1. Provide medication related advice to patients, focusing on medicines stopped/started or changed in hospital and side effects profiles enabling them to obtain the maximum benefit from their medicines.

1. Assist in the education and training of pre-registration pharmacists and other staff in training grades.

1. Supervise the daily activities of junior pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.

1. Participate in all activities of the pharmacy dispensary as required, including a high quality patient medication consultation service.
