Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Pharmacy Technician to assist the department in the delivery of a comprehensive medicines management service to the wards. The post holder will be required to provide support to all aspects of the Pharmacy Service including the dispensary.

    + Provide a high level of input into the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to wards and departments.
    + Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of requests for pharmaceutical products across the Trust by the dispensing and issuing of prescriptions, signed orders and controlled drug orders.
    + Concentrate for long periods of time with frequent interruption to deal with other dispensary issues as they occur.
    + Providing a ward-based pharmacy technician service to designated wards including medicines reconciliation reviewing inpatient prescriptions and ordering ward stock.
    + Giving accurate and direct counselling and advice to patients and clinical staff on pharmaceutical products.
    + Working as an accredited checking pharmacy technician according to local policies and standard operating procedures.
    + Supervising student pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers, dispensers and trainees in the dispensary.
    + Liaising with pharmacists and technical staff to ensure a proficient and comprehensive medicines management service to all patients and staff across the integrated care system supporting across primary and secondary care.
    + Provide a high level of input into the provision of the pharmacy medicines management service.

    Registered as a practicing Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) with a current up to date CPD record
    Have a current nationally recognised Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification or be willing to work towards this
    Demonstrable experience as working at Band 4 Technician level.
