Full Job Description

This is an exciting, permanent, band 8b opportunity, for a motivated individual to join the NWL Clinical Policy Development and IFR team. This role is suitable for an individual with extensive knowledge and experience in, evidence-based health care, clinical effectiveness or medicines optimisation. Ideal candidates will have experience in clinical policy and guideline development.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of evidence-based practice and NHS Commissioning, in particular clinical policy development. The post requires skills in literature searching, critical appraisal, synthesis of research (medicines and non-medicines) and data analysis. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to develop relationships across a wide range of professional groups is also required. You will be working within a a team that is evolving and developing and you will need to be creative and proactive in your approach.

Effective communication, stakeholder engagement and strong organisational skills will be essential in achieving the NWL vision of improved health outcomes and reduced health inequalities for our population.

This role will work within the Chief Medical Directorate supporting the delivery of work to ensure that NWL policies are developed to ensure commissioned healthcare services are founded on evidence-based practices, national standards and consider guidance issued by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), NHS England and the Department of Health., The NWL Policy Development Group meets quarterly and uses a multidisciplinary approach. It reviews not only the clinical and cost effectiveness of interventions, but also considers the patient's voice by representation from Healthwatch and from the patient engagement team, with the patient's voice is kept at the heart of discussions. This ensures a greater transparency when making difficult commissioning decisions in financially difficult times., NHS North West London Integrated Care Board (NHS NWL ICB) is a statutory body responsible for planning and allocating health and care resources to improve the lives of people in eight boroughs across North West London: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.

The local population is large and diverse, with a wide range of health and care needs that are evolving all the time. Working with our partners including Councils, NHS provider Trusts, GPs and voluntary and community organisations we plan and allocate NHS resource to deliver a wide range of services including urgent and emergency care, mental health, primary care, elective hospital services and community care.

All ICB roles work collectively to ensure our residents and patients have access to the right services when they need them as well as focusing on prevention and health promotion, supporting residents to take greater care of their own health and live longer, healthier lives.
