Full Job Description
Work alongside learners delivering clinical care for the majority of the role. Use coaching/mentoring-style techniques during contact time with learners to identify learning needs, improve standards, and escalate concerns where appropriate. Have highly developed clinical skills relevant to their areas of responsibility such that they may act as an expert resource for learners. Demonstrate and promote a high standard of person-centred, holistic care. Draw upon an appropriate range of multi-agency and inter-professional resources in their practice. Work independently and within a team structure according to the standards set by their professional body. Demonstrate leadership in influencing the department and multi-disciplinary team. Respond to unpredictable events with composure, using professional judgement to maintain the safety of those for whom they are responsible and seek assistance where required. Apply specialist knowledge and a problem-solving approach to effectively plan, implement and evaluate person-centred care. Demonstrate and promote the effective management of patient journey / flow by teaching and contributing to the development of systems for operational performance. Model and teach adequate patient documentation that fulfils professional standards. Contribute to monitoring and maintaining the standard of documentation., To provide clinical and professional leadership, including the development of evidence -based/best practice while acting as a role model to staff within their allocated ward area. To have responsibility for leading and developing their allocated team of nurses using regular appraisal and team meetings. To organise team away days to encourage team working and develop staffs learning within the speciality. To manage their ward/ department taking responsibility for supervision and deployment of staff, quality of service, audit and management of resources. To develop strategies for ensuring the smooth running of their ward/ department on a daily basis. To establish and maintain communication with the multidisciplinary team. To ensure there are effective systems in place to monitor staff performance, training and development within their teams. To collaborate with other senior nurses and ward / department managers in the development of nursing within Surgery.
The Wytham Ward is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable Clinical Educator with minimum of 2 years ward experience, who can provide clinically based practice development and education to our workforce. They will role model best, evidence-based professional practice and will be expected to provide clinical education support to all our staff including pre and post registration nurses, support workers and internationally educated nurses. The clinical educator will be able to identify and support the learning needs of our ward area and is key to ensuring the clinical area is a positive learning environment.,

- Managerial or leadership qualification/certificate
- Degree level Nursing Qualification, Successful team leadership skills.
- Good interpersonal, organisational & management skills.
- Decision making/problem solving skills.
- Ability to facilitate professional growth in nursing colleagues. Desirable criteria
- Evidence of project management and change management, Experience of working on a ward for at least 2 years.
- Knowledge of current clinical and Surgical nursing developments
- Demonstrates expert skills in Surgery care and the use of evidence based-practice
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and also to lead and manage a team effectively
- Evidence of a commitment to team working and staff support.
- Evidence of managing change in practice. Commitment to clinical governance and risk management initiatives Desirable criteria
- Team leader experience, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
