Full Job Description

With the expansion of our service, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative clinical psychologist to work within our specialist service for children and young people who are neurodiverse. Our team is friendly, supportive and considers not just diagnostic criteria but other factors such as culture, post covid consequences and the economic climate which may affect the assessment outcome for a young person.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

Further refine their assessment skills as well as providing support/interventions (neurodevelopmental and mental health)

Develop leadership skills

Contribute to service development

Collaborate with other services

Participate in public speaking

Supervise assistant psychologists

There must be an understanding of child development, autism, ADHD and mental health concerns such as trauma, attachment, anxiety and depression. Applicants must have experience of working with autistic young people between the ages of 8-18 years. Applicants will also need to have experience of applying psychology theory in community settings with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

We encourage the professional pursuit of interests associated with neurodiversity and mental health. The successful applicant will be based at Cantium House which is opposite Wallington Train station (30 second walk). There is scope for hybrid working., The Clinical Psychology Service within Cognus is commissioned by the NHS Southwest London Clinical Commissioning Group to provide services for the borough of Sutton.

Our work includes:

Conducting neurodevelopmental assessments using diagnostic, systematic thinking and a multi-layered approach.

Post diagnostic support/interventions (Mental health and neurodevelopmental)

1:1 individual and group work

Liaising with local CAHMS, schools and other relevant agencies.

Consultation to other services

Teaching and training

Service development

Contribution to and participation in company development
