Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join the West Norfolk Youth Service, based at Thurlow House, Kings Lynn to cover a period of maternity leave on a fixed term contract. This is an innovative service offering assessment and treatment of young people aged between 14 and 25 years with a variety of complex mental health needs. Supervision for this post will be provided by the 8b Clinical Psychologist in the service. Psychology input is highly valued within the team and the team utilises a formulation approach and mentalizing framework in our work with young people and their families. You would be joining a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychological Therapists, Mental Health Practitioners and Assistant Practitioners. We offer a wide range of therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Family Therapy, Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). We have good links with the University of East Anglia (UEA) Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme and regularly have trainees on placement., Within this role you will be:

  • Providing specialist assessment, formulation and intervention for young people (14-25)
  • Offering clinical supervision and training to members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Offering supervision and supporting the development of Assistant Psychologists / Trainee Clinical Psychologists
  • Providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
  • Supporting audit, research and service evaluation
  • Leading on projects for service improvement
