Full Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic & dynamic Applied Psychologist / Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist to join our Trustwide Adolescent Forensic Outpatient Service (AFOS) based at Acklam Road Hospital.

The post holder will be part of a wider mental health team providing a combination of consultation, formulation, intervention and training. The service aims to enhance professional understanding of the young people involved with the criminal justice system and embed trauma informed care principles within the local youth justice services across Durham Tees Valley. You will have excellent communication skills to promote and develop excellent interagency working and have experience of working with young people who present with a complex and multiple needs. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and within multi-disciplinary teams contributing to overall service delivery improvements as required., To provide a psychology service to Youth Justice Services across Durham Tees Valley alongside other qualified psychologists, nurses, social worker and assistant psychologists.

To provide specialist psychological consultation, assessment and intervention for young people in the youth justice service who present with mental health or neurodisability concerns or who have significant complex trauma backgrounds.

To support the youth justice teams in embedding trauma informed care principles.

To provide supervision where appropriate to qualified staff, trainees and assistant psychologists.

To contribute to overall service delivery as required.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
