Full Job Description

Behcets National Centre of Excellence at City Hospital/Birmingham Midland Eye Centre. The post holder will work closely with the Behets specialist multidisciplinary team to provide direct psychological care to those living with Behets to help them in managing the psychological aspects of living with this rare auto-immune condition. The post is the main source of psychological expertise for people with Behets in the Midlands and South West of England. The general medicine service works with clients and MDT's across a range of physical health specialties including diabetes, weight management, cardiology, gastroenterology and renal services. Psychological input is highly valued and there are close links with each of the teams we support. The role will offer opportunities to provide complex assessments and formulations, 1:1 psychological therapy, joint working with other health care professionals and the provision of supervision, training and consultancy. The will also be opportunities to support the Principal Psychologist in the ongoing development and improvement of the service. We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to develop your career within our friendly and dynamic Clinical Health Psychology Service.Main duties of the job Provides highly specialist psychological assessment of clients with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources, which may include neuropsychological testing. Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of children who may be at risk. Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and provides specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management. Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients' mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice. Negotiates the implementation of such plans with clients and/or their carers. Implements a range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.
