Full Job Description

We are looking for Clinical Psychologists or final year Trainee Clinical Psychologists with an interest in clinical health psychology and the impact of living with health conditions. You may have experience of working with physical health problems with either children/families or adults, or experience of working in child and adolescent or adult mental health services with a keen interest and desire to apply that knowledge to work in an acute trust.
There are a number of exciting opportunities for band 8a clinical psychology posts working in the following medical services:
1) Paediatric Renal (1.0 WTE 8a),
2) Paediatric Endocrinology, DSD & Diabetes (0.6 WTE 8a),
3) Paediatric Respiratory (0.4 WTE)
4) Paediatric LTV (long-term ventilation) (0.4WTE 8a)
The postholder will join the respective paediatric medical service/s at Nottingham Children's Hospital (QMC). As a psychologist working in these medical services, you will provide a specialist clinical psychology service for children/young people to help them better manage psychological distress and obtain better treatment outcomes.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists, or 3rd Year Trainees due to qualify in 2024., The main duties of the role will involve working closely with the medical service multidisciplinary Team. You will work with children and young people through consultation to staff, direct work and by attending multidisciplinary clinics. Your base will predominantly be at the Children's Hospital QMC campus. You will be part of a welcoming and growing Clinical Psychology Department which incorporates specialisms in Paediatric Psychology, Adult Medical Psychology and Child and Adult Neuropsychology.

There are opportunities for continued professional development and clinical supervision is well provided for within the paediatric clinical psychology team. We regularly have trainees from the DClinPsy courses around the region, so there would be opportunities to supervise trainees. You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision as required to others within and outside of the multidisciplinary team. The department has a commitment to clinical research. Strong support is available to participate in research or to develop your clinical research interests.

If you are aged 16 or 17 and applying for a role that is more than 20 hours a week, please be aware that you will be asked to commence an Apprenticeship within the Trust alongside your role, as long as there is a suitable apprenticeship standard available. Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

+ Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
+ Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£42.90 for enhanced and £22.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
