Full Job Description

We are seeking two creative and ambitious Clinical Psychologists or Family Therapists with a passion for working with children, families and social work colleagues, to join a small and expanding clinical team within Lambeth Children's Social Care. With supervision from a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will help to shape and grow the team's offer, providing consultation, training, and direct interventions that help improve the experience - and effect lasting change - for children and families in receipt of social work support.

Lambeth Children's Social Care recognises the wide-ranging positive impacts of embedded clinical support for children, families and team members, and is committed to a relational and therapeutic approach to social work practice (as below). These roles will involve direct and responsive clinical assessment and evidence-based intervention with children, families and households, as well as the provision of creative training and consultation sessions with colleagues and professional networks. In this role you will be working flexibly within the community, with close and collaborative contact with a range of other agencies.

This role is open to qualified and registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologists or Family Therapists. The post is equivalent to a Band 7 to 8a salary depending on experience. We welcome applications from those who are newly qualified.

About Lambeth:
Our Children's Social Care department is delivering against a bold ambition for Lambeth's future, focusing on achieving the best possible outcomes for our children and young people. We are dedicated to creating the right conditions for social work practice to thrive to ensure the service we offer to children and families improves their lives. Embedding accessible and effective clinical theory and practice is one of many ways we aim to achieve this.

In 2022, we relaunched our relational Practice Model - "Children at the Heart of Practice" which sets out our social work vision and values. Our approach consolidates and brings together these core theories and methods: systemic practice, strengthening families, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy and trauma-informed practice. This year we also embarked on a service-wide adoption of the Signs of Safety model as an umbrella approach, which now informs practice and supervision at all levels of the organisation.

In 2023 we launched our new Social Care Academy which invests in social work entry-level initiatives, as well as delivering a career development and training framework across the service. In this role you will contribute to the Academy's offer, as well as benefitting from it.

We value and encourage your continuing professional development: you will have access to a wide spectrum of training opportunities via Lambeth's Social Care Academy, and regular supervision from the Senior Clinical Psychologist. You will also work closely with colleagues from our partner CAMHS services in the borough, attending team meetings and other collective spaces.
