Applications are invited for a Band 4 Clinical Research Assistant based within the Centre for Research and Development at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The Research and Development team conducts National Institute for Health and Care Research Portfolio projects, clinical audit and own account research on a wide variety of mental health and service provision related topics. This post will be based within the NIHR portfolio research team.
The successful candidate will be involved in assisting in the set up and delivery of clinical research projects both Commercial and non-Commercial based., This role is varied and the suitable candidate must be prepared to be both office and community based depending on workload. This role requires clinical and administrative skills and is not a remote post. Main duties will involve:
+ General office housekeeping and administration
+ Building upon our current Research Ambassador role and Patient and Public Involvement interactions
+ Using and developing the wider teams use of IT systems such as EDGE.
+ Using own initiative to suggest developments within the team.
+ Speaking to service users, carers etc. about research and conducting clinical assessments where appropriate.
+ Collecting and uploading data for research projects according to the protocol and GCP guidelines.
+ The use of IT systems and applications e.g. Microsoft Office to ensure efficient and effective processes within the team.
+ Basic laboratory analysis e.g use of centrifuge, creating microscope slides and packaging of samples (training provided).
+ Basic physical obs where needed e.g blood pressure, ECG (training provided)
+ Development and maintenance of team intra and internet pages.
+ Monitoring and responding to the teams email inbox.
+ Use of social media for general promotion of the team/research projects and building the teams social media presence.
+ Building and maintaining professional relationships and rapport with other professionals of all levels and disciplines, service users of all ages and with a wide variety of mental and physical health issues and carers.

We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic person with strong organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills to join our team as a Clinical Research Assistant.
The ability to travel over a large geographical area is essential.
Knowledge of research methods and design is not essential but applicants must have an interest in clinical research and some patient facing healthcare experience. Excellent IT skills are also essential.
