Full Job Description
To carry out research programmes in cancer, undertake project management and/or supervise multi-disciplinary teams. The Research Associate will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding., Patient/Client Care: 1. Support the timely delivery of clinical studies, in-line with the requirements of sponsors, ICH GCP, and other appropriate guidelines and regulations. 2. Provide medical assessment and cover for selected studies iworking alongside other clinical teams and nurse in charge for the day. 3. In partnership with the staff, initiate definitive strategies to anticipate and expertly manage medical safety issues, including emergencies. 4. Support aspects of subject recruitment, including pre-study medical histories, informed consent, medical examinations for ongoing studies, dosing of study medication. 5. Where required, occasionally provide medical cover outside of normal working hours, as determined by the nature of the studies being undertaken at the time. 6. Accept delegated responsibility to ensure that assigned studies are carried out safely and in compliance with the protocol. 7. Be responsible for specific study-related medical decisions as agreed with the Study
Principal Investigator.
The primary role of the post holder is to provide medical support for Early Phase Clinical Trials in Cancer, including advanced therapies such as cell and gene therapies, anti-cancer immunotherapy and intra- tumoural therapeutics. The studies will be delivered within the Oncology Department at Imperial College NHS Trust as part of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Imperial BRC newly funded Oncology and Haematology Translational Research Centre and within the the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF).
