Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow in Gastrointestinal Cancers. This is a two-year (with possibility of extension to three years) doctoral clinical research fellowship, working towards an MD(Res) registered with The ICR and awarded by the University of London. MD(Res) fees will be paid by the unit, and a wide range of other personal and professional development opportunities are available.
The post will support both the research and clinical duties of the GI/lymphoma unit (including both one - two GI cancers new patient/follow up clinics each week in addition to one research clinics per week).

Dr Naureen Starling, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Associate Director of Research, on [email protected]., This is a one-year clinical fellowship, conducting projects focused on clinical and translational research (predominantly GI cancers). The research will be a mixture of clinical and translational research and the successful candidate will be expected to develop strong links with one of the ICR laboratories and clinician scientists/scientists that the GI/lymphoma unit work in collaboration with. There are a number of ongoing clinical research projects across the disease areas and the GI/lymphoma unit has a strong track record of success in students successfully completing their projects, publishing extensively, presenting internationally often in globally impactful research, developing their own profile and being awarded their doctoral degree.

Flu Vaccination - What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
