Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist with research experience to join the dynamic Radiotherapy Physics group at The Christie. The role is funded by a CRUK grant to develop, evaluate and implement the use of functional MRI into the planning and adaptive workflow on the MR-Linac. The applicant will work closely with the University of Manchester radiotherapy research groups to achieve this aim., This post has been created to assist with work funded through the CRUK Manchester Centre to further develop a research portfolio on the MR-Linac. The successful candidate will have a research background to support the body of work being developed on the MR-Linac, which will include the use of functional MRI. They will also likely be involved in the development and maintenance of the MR-Linac and ideally have Monaco experience. The candidate will also participate in the international MR linac consortium, present research at conferences and publish papers. They will additionally provide scientific leadership in other physics projects.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, situated in South Manchester, is the largest cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe, and an international leader in cancer research and development. Currently, the Christie radiotherapy network is equipped with a total of 15 linear accelerators across the four sites. The Christie hosts the National Proton Beam Therapy service in conjunction with UCLH. It also has integral links with the University of Manchester Radiotherapy Related Research (RRR) group.
