Full Job Description

The post holder works as member of the Radiotherapy Physics Section of Medical Physics, a team of Dosimetrists (Clinical Technologists) and Clinical Scientists responsible for providing a clinical scientific and technical service to the Sunrise Clinical Oncology Centre.
· The post holder will work within all areas in Radiotherapy Physics, including:
o Radiotherapy Treatment Planning
o Radiation Dosimetry
o Quality Assurance and Commissioning, Treatment Planning:
Work with scientific and radiographic professional to ensure that image networking and processing is fit for purpose. Advise on image transfer and processing of multi-modality image acquisitions.
Responsible for checking individual radiotherapy plans before delivery to ensure accuracy of calculations, quality of distribution and minimal dose to critical organs
Calculate dose for unplanned treatments using a range of independent dose calculations. Write clear instructions for radiographers to follow
Quality Assurance:
Responsible for independently carrying out routine quality control on treatment machines, CT simulation equipment and specialised treatment planning computers in radiotherapy, according to established protocols.
Machine Maintenance
Provide first-line advice in the event of machine breakdown to clinical staff making all reasonable efforts to ensure continuity of service.
Teaching, training and research.
