Full Job Description

This post holder will be the will lead on the strategy for improving cardiorespiratory education and training within the physiotherapy service at the University Hospitals of Leicester. This is a cross service/ site role that engages with all of the paediatric and adult therapy teams. As such the post holder will work collaboratively with the therapy management team as well as clinical team members to operationalise their vision of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy education and training across the department. The post will sit within the Cardiac and Resp Specialty, and the base site will be Leicester General Hospital (LGH). The post holder will be expected to have a small clinical case load at LGH compromising of HDU and base wards. They will also be required to work across three sites, and across all Specialties and Teams when not managing a clinical case load. The post holder will also be expected to work as part of the on-call and weekend respiratory rosters.,

  • To work collaboratively with both the Senior Physiotherapists and Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists working in the adult and paediatric respiratory specialities to support in delivery of the respiratory training.
  • To support CPD through the development and delivery of relevant programmes of education and training across the Physiotherapy workforce clinical areas.To carry a small clinical caseload at LGH
  • To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education, training and development across the Physiotherapy workforce .
  • To work clinically alongside registered and non-registered Physiotherapy staff promoting and delivering education.
  • To lead on the development and implementation of external cardiorespiratory courses.
  • To lead on the cardiorespiratory physiotherapy simulation based education.
  • Assist with the planning, delivery, coordination of mandatory / statutory / induction and essential to role training for the Physiotherapy workforce.
  • Design and lead education and training programmes for the specialty to ensure all therapists within the specialty are complying with best evidence based practice.
  • Actively facilitate ongoing staff development and support through clinical supervision and act as a supervisor and mentor for the clinical area.
  • Support the Education and Practice Development Lead and Lead AHPs to carry out training needs analysis as required.
