This is a fixed term post for 18 months and could be a secondment opportunity provided line management agreement has been sought before applying.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic Nurse with a strong focus on Training and Education to take on the role of Band 6 Clinical Skills Educator Joint Appointment with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). This post is aligned to the Clinical Skills Service within the wider Clinical Education Team at DBTH but also has an annual commitment of 15 days to support the delivery of skills training and assessment at SHU.
Working closely with the Band 7 Clinical Skills & ReST Lead, the successful candidate will support with the planning and delivery of skills training, aligned to the role specific requirements for all colleagues at DBTH and support students at SHU with their skills curriculum requirements., To work with the Clinical Skills & ReST Lead (CSRL) under the guidance of the Clinical Education Manager (CEM), to provide high quality clinical skills related education and training for all healthcare colleagues working within the Trust and wider integrated care services. This role focusses on the delivery of clinical skills training but in specific circumstances includes the delivery of high fidelity simulation training. The post holder will assist in the development and implementation of a core curriculum of clinical skills training and assessment to ensure a skilled workforce.
Provide advice, guidance and support to healthcare colleagues regarding clinical skills training issues. Support the CSRL in the planning and delivery of clinical skills education for trust colleagues to meet local, regional and national requirements.
The Clinical Skills Educator (CSE) will be based across Clinical Skills at DRI, BDGH and Mexborough Montagu Hospital (MMH).
JOB PURPOSE - SHU
To develop, implement and evaluate clinical and simulated learning experiences, by taking a learner-centred approach in line with the School, College and University's Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy. To act as a Practice Supervisor to support and facilitate learning and provide constructive feedback and evidence for students' progress.
To act and undertake practice assessment where required, if appropriate to professional registration.

You will need to be a Registered Nurse with significant clinical acute care experience and hold a level 6 degree qualification. You must be able to demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal skills. You must also have experience of supporting learners and hold a current mentorship qualification.
