Full Job Description

The postholder will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of the Breast Care specialty week for Year 4 students on the Manchester MBChB, working under the direction of the Breast Care teaching leads. The post will involve organizing student timetables as they attend clinic, theatre and the ward. The post will involve working closely with the Undergraduate Medical Education Department in the ERC, who are responsible for delivering high quality teaching to medical students. There are medical students attached to the Breast Unit for a one-week teaching programme every week for 32 weeks of term time from beginning of September to mid-May.
Ideally, the post holder should have had experience of working with patients with breast disease and breast cancer. The post will involve direct teaching of undergraduate medical students around breast examination and triple assessment and communication skills.
Outside of the Breast Care specialty weeks, the post holder will work as a Clinical Skills Tutor in Undergraduate Medicine in the ERC building, helping to deliver teaching and CCA's for the students. There is also opportunity to participate in communication skills teaching., Assist in direct teaching of breast examination and principles of Triple Assessment, during Monday morning and afternoon. In collaboration with medical staff facilitate Themed Case Discussions and clinical debrief with medical students (These are held on Fridays).
In collaboration with medical staff facilitate assessment and sign-off of the students each Friday afternoon, with an opportunity for Q&A and consolidation of their clinical and communication skills learning. Check that the students have completed their online tasks, attended appropriate clinical sessions, and demonstrated reflection for their portfolio.
