Full Job Description

The successful applicant will work closely alongside our Consultant colleagues in Orthopaedic clinics as well as the team in the outpatient therapy service. The Hand Service currently consists of 3 Surgeons, 2 Advanced Practitioners, 1 Clinical Specialist and a Senior Physiotherapist. We also have the support of our therapy assistants and admin teams.,

  • To work as an autonomous advanced physiotherapist/occupational therapist developing and delivering specialised programmes of care for patients with complex needs.
  • To undertake a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist role within the Musculoskeletal department and support the Trauma and Orthopaedic department at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust working alongside a consultant and/or Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
  • Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical data to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses informing complex decision making ensuring the delivery of high quality patient focused care.
  • To develop advanced practitioner skills under the guidance of a consultant and Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
  • To support the Professional lead of Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy and Advanced Clinical Practitioners in seeking opportunities to identify and engage in developments in professional practice and the transformation of service delivery.
  • To deputise for the Advanced Clinical Practitioner on agreed clinical and service development groups and boards.
  • To provide advanced training, advice and clinical education to service providers, service users and service commissioners.
  • To support the development of a learning based culture. This will include the provision of training, supervision and appraisal for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, support staff and students.

  • HCPC Registered
  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy
  • Extensive post-graduate training
  • Desirable criteria
  • Member of Specialist Body, Extensive post- graduate clinical experience
  • Experience in wrist and hand management
  • Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in Orthopaedic Clinics
  • BAHT Level 1
  • Previous experience of working in a clinical specialist role, Additional Courses in Relevant Field, Previous Involvement in Research/Service Development
  • Injection qualification
  • IRMER trained / Interpretation of investigations including xray, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
