This clinical specialist post will lead and develop our innovative and integrated OT team in providing high quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. The therapies service covers all adult inpatient clinical areas (Orthopaedics, Cardio-respiratory, Medicine, Urgent Care, A&E) and outpatient services including Hand Therapy, Fracture Clinic., We are committed to providing excellent training opportunities, developing our senior team with bespoke leadership programmes and there is the opportunity to undertake advanced clinical practice modules.

This is a full-time post working across the 7 day service with participation in weekend and bank holiday rotas. This post would also be considered as a secondment opportunity., + To be an integral part of the senior leadership team which is composed of two 8A clinical specialist leads in trauma and orthopaedics, and respiratory medicine, one B5 advanced support worker and the workforce and practice education lead all reporting to the deputy head of therapies.
+ To provide and support advanced leadership to the occupational therapy team
+ To work autonomously as a clinical speciality lead Occupational Therapist providing a clinical specialist Occupational Therapy service across specialities within the Therapies Team. You will lead on complex case management of patients with specialist equipment, manual handling and discharge needs.
+ To be responsible for ensuring clinically effective acute therapy is delivered across all specialities.
+ To provide strong clinical leadership in the provision of an effective, high quality, Occupational Therapy service for patients.
+ To lead and support audit and research projects in order to evaluate service delivery.
+ To be responsible for the education, training and development of occupational therapy and other health care staff across the service
+ To regularly review clinical practice delivery within the Therapies team in light of new models of care and clinical transformation programmes within KGH, and to identify new ways of working, this includes the advancement of extended clinical skills in this post of self and others.
+ To work with medical, nursing, AHP and other healthcare colleagues across clinical specialties within KGH in order to optimise patient management. This may include implementing and delivering education and training to cross professional groups.
+ To develop and maintain key working relationships across professional boundaries with Primary Care, Consultant and nursing teams who are associated with services for these patients as well system leadership as required
+ To provide high quality, evidence-based care across the seven day service, participating in weekend and bank holiday rotas as required.
+ To support the Head of Therapies and Deputy Head of Therapies in the delivery of delegated leadership/trust activities and ensuring these are representative of the therapy team, Applications will be transferred to TRAC system, by completing an application your are giving authorisation for the transfer of your data.

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £13. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Acute Therapies leadership Team. We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our expanding, forward-thinking and highly regarded Acute Therapy Team. The post-holder will lead and further develop our Occupational Therapy services as Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in collaboration with the Head of Therapies, Deputy Head of Therapies and the therapies senior leadership team., The speciality will be dependent on your experience across one of the 3 main areas of medicine, Frailty/Urgent Care or Orthopaedics and Surgery; but will take the clinical lead for Occupational Therapy across the range of speciality services. Working in collaboration with the Senior leadership team and reporting to the Head of Therapies and Deputy Head of Therapies you will take the lead in planning, co-ordination and development of the Occupational Therapy Team. You will provide leadership, support, supervision and mentorship to the team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting clinical excellence and evidence-based practice.
