Would you like the opportunity to join an innovative, developing Occupational Therapy Service that actively encourages and supports professional and service development? Due to upcoming maternity leave, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist (OT) to work in the Intensive Support Team (IST), which provides multi-disciplinary assessment, short-term treatment, training, advice and practical support for adults with a learning disability who are experiencing a crisis in relation to a behaviour that challenges, and/or requiring support with their mental health. You will provide specialist OT assessment and intervention to the service users of IST across Bedfordshire and Luton, using evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions with a focus on enabling an individual's occupational functioning. You will work within a multidisciplinary community based team and see service users in their homes, day care settings and/or work places., Regular managerial and professional supervision will be provided and we also provide monthly opportunities to participate in OT Service-wide CPD events. Professional development and training are actively encouraged through the appraisal process, and we also offer specialist training opportunities and a Band 7 Support and Development programme. - To provide an Occupational Therapy (OT) service to service users diagnosed with a Learning Disability, including consultation, review and stand-alone assessments.
- To co-ordinate with other members of the multi-disciplinary and OT team and provide clinical consultations as required.
- To maintain the following key relationships:
- Service users and their representatives.
- Learning Disability OT team / Trust wide OT service
- Learning Disability Multi-Disciplinary Team, ELFT
- Borough Adult Learning Disability teams
- External OT professionals
- Voluntary and statutory organisations
You should have some demonstrable experience of working with adults who have a Learning Disability and up-to-date knowledge of current OT provision for this client group. Post graduate training relevant to the post (eg autism, sensory integration, AMPS,) is essential. You will need to hold a current UK driving license and have access to a car.
