Full Job Description

The post holder will work within this specialist national centre which is a centre of excellence, where patients who have HTLV-1 have complex needs. You will assess, manage, treat and support them as the learn to manage their condition. You will provide holistic expert neurological physiotherapy assessment and treatment to these patients. You will work closely with the MDT to optimise patient's function and management including referral to other community services.
The successful applicant will have the opportunities to develop their leadership, research, management and QI skills, whilst being responsible for their own complex day-to-day workload, and collaborating with the rest of the multidisciplinary team. We are looking for a motivated physiotherapist, with excellent communication and people management skills to join and complement our established teams and continue to develop this national service., + To manage the most complex caseload within the HTLV neurology service, using advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a client centred approach.
+ To provide expert information, advice and consultation on the management of patients with neurological-related conditions including HTLV to allied health professionals, nurses, other health professionals and managers within and external to the Trust.
+ To educate and train physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and other healthcare professionals in the management of neurological and HTLV-associated disorders.
+ To be responsible for the maintenance and development of own CPD identifying and contributing to the evidence base of Physiotherapy and neuro-rehabilitation/Neurology.
+ To act as a clinical source of expertise to manage risk and monitor and improve the standards of service provision in Neurology and the HTLV service through the implementation of audit, development of protocols, and the use of evidence-based approaches and routine evaluation.
+ To foster a climate of innovation and research through multidisciplinary working and to develop an appropriate research programme in relation to the HTLV service.
+ To maintain and update managerial and specialist clinical skills, knowledge and expertise.
+ To be actively involved in professional activities within the Physiotherapy profession and outside the profession, e.g. multi-disciplinary forums and networks.
