Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and highly skilled existing Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, or experienced band 6 to work within the acute surgical wards at The Royal Oldham Hospital

As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist within Surgery, you will ensure that the team delivers a high standard of evidenced based care to patients admitted through the surgical pathways, facilitating patient flow and timely discharge. You will offer a person-centred approach to support patients with their recovery.

You will manage a caseload of patients with a range of colorectal conditions providing pre and post-operative care, including respiratory management. The post holder will support across other areas such as gastro and vascular within the surgical footprint, Within this role, you will work alongside an integrated team of Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants, working closely with the MDT based on the medical wards.

You will manage a complex and busy caseload of patients as a specialist in the holistic assessment and treatment of the needs of medical patients during their inpatient admission and facilitate their ongoing management and discharge into community services.

You will be committed to delivering a robust training programme within your own discipline and contribute to the training needs of others across our workforce.

You will supervise and support career development of junior colleagues and students.

You will support the Operational and Professional Therapy Lead with clinical governance action plans and service development and audit.

You will work autonomously within the Trust policy and professional practice, maintaining accurate and comprehensive up to date records.

The service operates over seven days and as such some weekend working and bank holidays is required as part of the role.

You will be expected to contribute to the respiratory Physiotherapy weekend working service on a rota basis.
