Full Job Description
The spinal service at Great Ormond Street Hospital is looking for a dedicated and energetic clinical patient pathway coordinator to assist the spinal CNS team in planning care and treatment routes for patients undergoing spinal surgery. This role involves providing inpatient care for up to 300 children and young people annually, as well as supporting those in the outpatient department. The ideal candidate should possess some understanding of spinal conditions, be literate with computers, and have experience caring for children, young people, and families facing complex surgical procedures. Preferably we would like the candidate to have some clinical experience in some capacity. They will collaborate closely with the spinal CNS team, advanced nurse practitioners, and spinal consultants to ensure that the children, young people, and families receive compassionate and well-coordinated care. This position offers an exciting opportunity within the service and plays a crucial role in maintaining and further developing the service.,
- To work closely with the relevant Waiting List Co-ordinator on the booking of routine admissions, ensuring that planned tests and investigations are in place as required.
- When required book transport, accommodation and interpreters for families.
- To record refused or delayed admissions and ensure this information is made available upon request. Inpatient Coordination
- In liaison with the Waiting Lists Co-ordinator book interpreters for children and their families.
- To book transport and accommodation for families as appropriate in liaison with the Waiting Lists Co-ordinator and the nurse in charge.
- To provide cover for the Senior Healthcare Assistant for Orthopaedics during periods of leave. General Administrative Duties
- To support and undertake any projects/audits initiated by the Trust or Unit.
- To create and update databases for the surgery unit.
- To support the CNS team with general administrative duties, including minute taking.
- To maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policy.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grading of your post.
- Keep the British Spinal registry up to date.
