Full Job Description

We are looking for two enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Clinical Trials Assistants, to work with our research delivery teams on variety of clinical studies: commercial and non-commercial portfolio of research projects. The roles are primarily based in York Hospital, with a requirement to work at Scarborough Hospital when needed. Please note: this advert is for a CTA role dedicated to the commercial portfolio of research and working primarily with the Commercial Research Team: full time/ fixed term contract for 2 years or it can be offered as a secondment. Reporting to the Head of Research Delivery and Commercial Research Manager, and supervised by the R&D Administrator- Delivery Teams, you will provide a full administrative service including maintaining study files and documentation. Other duties will include arranging appointments with patients, obtaining test results and medical records, collating and submitting trial data and compiling reports on trial progress. For the right candidate, this post offers varied duties, an opportunity to acquire knowledge about the conduct of clinical trials and the satisfaction of making a real contribution to Clinical Research.

Clinical Trials require very careful administration that is subject to external inspection. Therefore, for this job you must be well organised, thorough and attentive to detail. Since other team members may be away from the office for extended periods of time, you should be able to work alone and without direct supervision. Excellent communication skills are essential as you must be able to communicate sensitively and professionally with patients who may be seriously ill and distressed. You must also be able to communicate with staff at all levels of seniority throughout a number of hospital departments, and with sponsors, staff in the Research Network and other NHS Trusts.As part of the role you would need to be flexible with regard to supporting colleagues in different research specialties.
