Full Job Description

Leidos are currently seeking an experienced CNC Team Leader, to work on a late shift ( 2pm to 10.15pm Monday to Friday ).

Leidos supplies the automotive industry with special purpose tooling and equipment including jigs and fixtures used in car manufacturing.

You'll lead a small, shift team in machining jigs and fixtures both for prototype and batch manufacturing. You'll be involved in CNC programming, setting and operating various machinery and supporting the team of CNC setter/operators in managing their workload.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Completing Inspection and Daily sheets.

  • Ensuring manufacturing is completed in line with our Quality Brief and products adhere to Quality Management standards (ISO9001, ISO14001 and Q1)

  • Ensure the team achieves production targets and deadlines.

  • Reading, interpreting, and working to drawings supplied.


  • CNC scheduling, methods and set ups including:
  • Ensuring component inspection is carried out and take an active role in the quality of Leidos products being produced.

  • Producing Jigs, fixtures, and tooling methods to ensure safe, cost-efficient production of components.

  • Preparing cutting tools.


  • Supervision of:
  • Completion of Job record sheets for each component.

  • Timecards.

  • Inspection sheets.

  • Ensure the Setters/Operators are working efficiently when the machine is running where possible, de-burring, inspecting, or running more than one machine.

    Ideally apprentice trained or qualified through experience.

  • Proven experience of operating 3 and 4 axis CNC Machining, Milling and Lathe machinery (ideally Fanuc or Siemens controlled).

  • Accustomed to working in a fast paced, engineering environment.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, set CNC machines and use measuring equipment.

  • Ability to work using Metric and Imperial measurements.

  • Good understanding of fine engineering tolerances and quality inspections requirements.

  • Due to the nature of our business, you will need to pass and maintain a BPSS security check.
