Full Job Description

To join our Major Projects team as a coating inspector to cover the chemical cleaning of stainless steel pipework and deliver a complex project, and promote the adoption and culture of best practices, which delivers positive commitment to quality and engages all employees in continuous improvement. As a Specialist Coating Inspector your knowledge, experience and duties will cover the following:

  • To be familiar with the scope of work and contract specification and national/international standards
  • Inspect coatings applied through the pickling process to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Monitor and document the pickling process, including pre-treatment, coating application, and post-treatment.
  • Identify and report defects or inconsistencies, recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide daily trackers to management, detailing sub-contractor activities and an overview of all pipes/spools/fittings.
  • Liaise with QA Lead, QC Lead, and Project Leads on documentation and QA requirements.
  • Coordinate client inspections as required in a timely maner.
  • Witness cleaning and coating activities to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Verify that approved procedures are available and followed during production.
  • Conduct surveillance during production to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Perform incoming material and final packing inspections, ensuring full traceability before release.
  • Report inspection findings and non-conformances according to project plans.
  • Raise Continuous Improvement Forms (CIFs) and liaise with Client's QA/QC departments.
  • Maintain quality documentation/records within the Company's Combined Management System (CMS).
  • Monitor and review quality performance against KPIs.
  • Contribute to the company's technical capabilities and improvements.
  • Support and promote a strong workshop HSE culture.
  • To carry out any other inspections as quested by the Quality Manager
  • Good Understanding for following:
  • Standards applicable
  • Equipment control and calibration
  • Surface preparation (Non-ferrous materials )
  • Stainless cleaning techniques
  • Pickle and Passivation for St/St pipework
  • Chemical cleaning for Stainless steels
  • Internal and External Chemical Technical Cleaning for Stainless steel products
  • Familiar and understanding of the chemical process testing for Ferroxyl, Passivity and soluable salt tests.
  • Tests to detect surface contamination
  • Corrosion protection methods
  • Types of chemical cleaning processes and systems and Chemical data sheets
  • Environmental considerations
  • Production of written instructions
  • Interpretation of normal documents
