Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Collections Assistant to join our team. We have recently moved into a new, dedicated Collections Centre, so it's a great time to join us and work as part of our team to improve how we operate in core areas; and how we care for and manage our collections both in store and on display.

Reporting to the Curator you will be assisting with all aspects of collections care, documentation and collections management. You will help oversee volunteers working in conservation cleaning and digitisation. You will have responsibility for some areas of collections care or documentation projects, and you will support the Content team with larger core and project activities.

As our Collections Assistant, you will be responsible for providing knowledge and practical support to other teams as required; this could include providing access to collections for Historians, providing digitised material or copyright information to the Communications or Learning teams, or working with the Curator to support Site Works or Communications with supervision of contractors and film crews.

The succesful candidate will have excellent planning and organisation skills and attention to detail. In addition, you be an excellent team player with the flexibility to take on a broad range of tasks.

Due to the nature of this role and our unique environment, this role will include working at height on occasion, along with lifting and carrying items.
