Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to apply their nursing skills within a residential academic community, comprising c. 600 students as well as academic and non-academic staff. The Nurse runs drop-in clinics dealing with a range of health and welfare issues including mental health, sexual health, sports injuries, chronic disease management and medical emergencies.

You will be responsible for assessing and managing patients (mainly students), contributing to the College's welfare provision, promoting health and wellbeing activities and information, and ensuring that appropriate medical records are kept. You will liaise with the College's linked NHS GP Practice, the University's Disability Advisory and Counselling Services, and colleagues within the College.

To be successful, you will be a Level 1 Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. You will need to be organised, have excellent listening and communication skills and have a calm approach. Previous experience of dealing with young people and their health, particularly mental health issues, will be an advantage.

Merton is one of the oldest and most beautiful colleges in Oxford, tucked away behind the High Street, with glorious views across Christ Church Meadows but within easy reach of other University buildings and the city centre. We are a vibrant, diverse, inclusive community with a strong record of academic success. More information about the College is available on our website: www.merton.ox.ac.uk
