Full Job Description

The University is seeking to appoint up to three new College Principals to begin three-year terms of office.

A number of our current College Principals have recently moved to new roles or are due to complete their terms creating exciting opportunities for other colleagues to play an important leadership role in the University and to help deliver the unique Lancaster student experience.

College Principals provide strategic leadership, management and oversight of their college to deliver an outstanding student experience that aligns with and fully supports the wider collegiate vision and values to support our 'Community of Communities'. They ensure that College membership remains a distinctive, vibrant and valuable offer which underpins the student experience at Lancaster, and a forum for staff networking.

College Principals report to the Dean for Colleges and will work in partnership with other College Principals, Directors of Professional services, LUSU offers and elected members of the Student JCR/PG Board. College Principals are responsible for ensuring the effective, efficient and equitable operation of college services for junior and senior members.

These positions are open to academic and professional services colleagues (grade 7 and above) with demonstrable leadership experience and potential. College principals must be able to show - and to maintain - a strong commitment to both staff and students and their academic and social experience at Lancaster - and be willing to work flexibly out of normal hours.

College Principal appointments come with a 20% buy-out from existing duties, and an additional annual responsibility allowance. Serving as an effective College Principal is also recognised in the academic promotions criteria. Applicants must speak with their line manager that so its understood that they can be released/ workload managed/redirected in their substantive role
