Full Job Description

Provide optimum quality of care to patients who have been diagnosed with bowel cancer, in addition to patients diagnosed with colorectal disorders, and those who have had stoma formation. This posting is hospital based and the colorectal nursing service runs a Monday to Friday service with a possibility of working on a Saturday pro rata. This post will necessitate close working relationships with surgical and medical staff to deliver specialist care in the pre operative period, where the emphasis will be on optimising patients for surgery and post operatively, where the post holder will be key in implementing early post operative rehabilitation for their patients. The post holder will ideally have completed a recognised, accredited course in stoma care and or be willing to complete an appropriate degree course.,

  • Deliver a high level of care and support to patients diagnosed with bowel cancer along with those patients diagnosed with benign bowel conditions that require surgery.
  • You will be expected to have excellent communication skills. This role will necessitate good communication with the patient as well as their family members in addition to liaising with the MDT
  • Knowledgeable about colorectal cancer and colorectal surgery and the services available for them pre and post operatively.
  • As a CNS you will largely work autonomously
  • Promote ERAS
