Full Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as the Colorectal Robotic and Minimally Invasive Fellow. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and dedicated colorectal registrar with an interest in the treatment of colorectal disease. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills in robotic surgery for colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. You will be trained on the Intuitive XI system using a dual consol system. Prior experience of robotic surgery is not a pre-requisite, but it is encouraged.

Working within one of the leading surgical departments in the country, the post-holder will work with senior consultant colleagues across colorectal surgery, gastroenterology and the oncology team as part of our world class MDT. You will be expected to contribute to the outpatient service., The post holder is intended to work at a Senior Registrar level, supporting and aiding the NPOP multidisciplinary team, clinical ward work, the Outpatient workload and Elective and Emergency operating of the Department. A pay banding supplement is payable for participation in the on-call rota at middle grade level.

The successful candidate for the position of Colorectal Robotic Fellow and they will work at a senior registrar level, playing a pivotal role in providing expertise in the inpatient and outpatient management of both cancer and IBD patients. This dynamic role involves close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, fostering effective communication and synergy among various medical disciplines.

Additionally, the candidate will be encouraged to develop proficiency in robotic, laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery, and proctology. There will be the opportunity to develop skills in TAMIS and procedures for early rectal cancers. The successful candidate will contribute to the seamless integration of care, ensuring comprehensive and patient-centred approaches to treatment.

This position offers a unique opportunity for a candidate towards the end of their colorectal training to develop advanced skills in the minimally invasive management of cancer in a collaborative and dynamic healthcare environment.

The successful candidate must be eligible for registration or hold full registration with the GMC and have registrar level experience in colorectal surgery. In addition to elective duties, they will participate in a 1:8 on-call registrar rota in general surgery. They must have the ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists, operating lists and rotas as well as demonstrate strong communication and team working skills. The department has a growing quality improvement, research and audit unit and involvement in research is also actively encouraged.

Depending on experience £41,750 - £64,288 per annum plus London Weighting
