Costain have a new opportunity for a dynamic Commercial Director to take a strategic lead role supporting our Asset Replacement Programme and Major Projects (T2 Baggage) programme, supporting the Commercial leads to Call off contracts or Tranche's. Commercial Director for Heathrow project will lead and provide support to the Project Director to implement the commercial strategy. As part of the senior leadership of the programme with Heathrow to ensure the production, pricing and governance of call off contracts or Tranche contract are aligned with Heathrow's delivery process and strategy.

Ensure that commercial discipline is maintained throughout. Guide and develop all project staff on commercial issues.

This Commercial Director role is a strategic leadership position within the Costain business, reporting into the Integrated Transport Commercial Director, whom you will support with the management of resources and development of the commercial function capability. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal framework within which our Aviation customers operate, and an in-depth knowledge of the standard forms of contract typically encountered. You must be able to formulate commercial strategies in connection with conflict avoidance, conflict management and dispute resolution and be able to communicate and influence effectively with internal and external stakeholders.,

  • Degree / HND in a relevant commercial / construction discipline


  • Full membership of RICS or CICES


  • Extensive post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with a track record of achievement (Water Sector experience preferred)


  • Previous experience of working in collaborative or alliancing environments


  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with a track record of resolving complicated commercial issues.


  • Lead commercial negotiations with major supply chain members


  • Ensure the proper communication of the commercial strategy to the wider team


  • Lead all aspects of commercial due diligence and reporting, work closely with operations and finance leads to ensure transparent reporting.
