Full Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Commercial Manager within the Specialist Services Function. This role will be based on site in Kingsbury, Birmingham. Role Responsibilities;

  • Support the review tenders & cost data;
  • Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project; Planning;
  • Co-ordinate the commercial team to ensure programme issues are identified and actioned;
  • Manage the preparation and review of Earned Value Management.
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports; To be able to report and explain the commercial progress to senior divisional staff;
  • To manage the feedback of commercial data to Planning, Estimating, Marketing and Sales.
  • Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements;
  • Formulation of management plans for resource procurement. Awareness of disputes resolution including options, structure as well as knowledge of the SCL Protocol;
  • Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts;
  • Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles;
  • Representation of the financial and contractual interests to your employer and/or client in progress meetings or the like;
  • Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions;
  • Management and reporting of Commercial Risk and Opportunity; Management of disallowed cost., Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI's role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
  • Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:
  • 9.3km of viaducts
  • 62 overbridges
  • 35 cuttings
  • 56 culverts
  • 62 embankments
  • 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels
  • 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
  • Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB
  • Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership
  • Extensive working knowledge of the construction industry, flexibility and a talent for negotiation Track record of managing and developing a commercial team
