Full Job Description

  • The Retail Partnerships team are responsible for managing ancillary insurance products such as Breakdown and Motor Legal Expenses Insurance. Hastings works in partnership with household names such as the RAC to provide these products to its customers.
  • This is a substantial portfolio that covers 9 products, in excess of 3m policies and generates roughly £80m of income for Hastings annually. We are looking for a talented Commercial Partnership Manager to work as an integral part of this team, supporting the delivery of commercial and customer outcomes with our ancillary partners.
  • As the Commercial Partnership Manager, you will be responsible for managing the relationship with our ancillary partners, ensuring we effectively manage commercial and contractual relations and customer outcomes to ensure long-standing, mutually beneficial partnerships as well driving good customer outcomes.
  • You will also be the lead in developing and implementing Ancillary Product development strategies (Provider / pricing / fee / remuneration) to support the commercial performance of the Core proposition; driving business growth, whilst maintaining fair consumer value regulatory compliance and reputational integrity.
  • You will take the lead on the development of and delivery to budgets for these ancillary products; working with financial planning & commercial peers to produce budget, reforecasts and 3 year plans.
  • You will also support the timely rectification of any commercial or operational issues during the day-to-day running of the business and commercial relationships. This means engaging with colleagues across the business and third party partners to collaboratively resolve any issues.
  • Finally, you will be responsible for the delivery of good customer outcomes (effective monitoring of customer value and mitigation of potential customer detriment) including completion of annual product review & value assessment.

    This role has a combination of Commercial, Compliance and Governance elements so experience across all three is required.
  • As outlined above, a large part of the role is managing our relationships with our ancillary suppliers so direct experience here is also a necessity.
  • We would also prefer you to have some exposure to the Insurance industry, with an understanding of claims processes, terminology and metrics.
  • We would like to see some evidence of you working in a regulated environment with a strong understanding of FCA regulations.
  • With the negotiation elements of the role, we would like someone who confident on performance led negotiators. We also need someone who can be firm and push back with our suppliers during difficult negotiations.
