Full Job Description

This Commercial Solicitor will report to the Principal Solicitor and will work within UKPN Services based in our London office. You will be a permanent employee.,

  • Advise on high value tenders; draft and negotiate commercial contracts, consultancy and service contracts, goods, works and construction contracts;
  • Advise on a range of legislation including Electricity Act, Data Protection Act, New Roads and Street Works Act, Town and Country Planning Act, Health and Safety legislation and TUPE;
  • Advise on intellectual property issues;
  • Advise the business, including senior executives on compliance with legislation affecting the business;
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on the interpretation of contracts; lead negotiations opposite partners and senior associates from City law firms;
  • Prepare and deliver training on current legal issues to the legal team and to business colleagues;
  • Awareness of and ability to advise upon impact of competition law;
  • Instruct and support the work of external solicitors;
  • If requested, to assume responsibility for the output and standard of work of less experienced staff and solicitors;
  • Advise on disputes and assisting on a range of litigation matters.

    Qualified Solicitor with experience with in commercial and construction law
  • Experience working both in-house and in private practice
  • Communicate clearly at senior level and to manage complex negotiations opposite partners and senior associates from City law firms;
  • The commitment and ability to manage a varied workload to tight timescales;
  • The ability to work as part of a team communicating with internal clients and external customers;
  • Good keyboard and IT skills;
  • Experience working in a regulated environment in the utilities sector
  • Experience working with the NEC suite of contracts.

    You will attract a salary based on experience and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote
