Full Job Description

  • Assist Senior Chefs in whichever section they are designated to.

  • Cooking a variety of meals

  • Comply with all relevant food safety legislation.

  • Help to reduce kitchen waste and processes to minimise wastage.

  • Supporting with food orders

  • To work in a clean and tidy manner

  • Check all food is compliant with allergens.

  • Following recipe cards to prepare, cook and serve a range of meals.

  • Placing food orders and maintaining kitchen records

  • To monitor and record temperatures of fridges, freezers, hot cabinets, and serveries.

  • Assisting in daily and weekly kitchen deep cleans

  • Full knowledge of all menu items served.

    Chef experience at commis level is desirable.

  • Previous experience of working in a kitchen

  • Allergen awareness (i.e Natasha's Law), full training will be given.

  • Excellent team player and communicator

  • Basic security checks needed.

    We are currently looking for a Commis Chef to work with our integral team at University of London, Senate House.

  • £12.50 per hour

  • Full time contract - 37.5 hours a week, mostly Monday - Friday with some occasional Saturdays work. 5 days of 7.

  • Shifts range between 0700 - 1500 with occasional evening functions as per scheduled rota.
