Full Job Description

We are looking for a Commis Waiter/Waitress with a passion for food and wine to join our team. As a member of our restaurant/ front-of-house service team, you will be helping deliver a world class service alongside a highly trained, charismatic team whose collective goal is to deliver excellence to our members. You will be proud to uphold the club's service standards, and help build the reputation of The Roof Gardens (TRG). We seek somebody with experience in high-end food and beverage service environments, an impeccable demeanor, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should have a great eye for detail too and be conscientious in the execution of your duties. Your main responsibilities will include: Operations & Service

  • Welcome members and guests in a friendly and accommodating yet professional manner, making a great first impression.
  • Understand and follow the sequence of service standards inline with appropriate SOPs.
  • Assisting senior waitstaff in the preparation and set up of dining areas, ensuring tables are impeccably presented and ready to welcome members and their guests.
  • Taking pride in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of front of house areas, specifically ensuring that all service ware is properly cared for, cleaned and prepared for every service.
  • To learn and retain a comprehensive understanding of all menu items including daily specials, wines etc to ensure maximum benefit to the member/guest and the ability to work effectively.
  • To be hands-on and present in the restaurant at all times during service.
  • Take food and drink orders in all areas and process them correctly according to the Roof Gardens 'order of service'.
  • Exceed member and guests expectations by serving food and drink in a professional, knowledgeable and accommodating manner.
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen team to facilitate smooth communication and ensure timely delivery of orders to diners.
  • Represent TRG high standards of personal presentation and behaviour at all times on shift. Including being dressed in clean correct uniform at all times.
  • Actively engaging in training sessions and team meetings, including daily briefings Utilise the POS system inline with company policy and SOPs . Processing all payments / accounts according to the company guidelines.
  • Maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new members of the team and assisting in their training when required.
  • Working as a team player at all times and being prepared to be flexible in order to ensure that operations are always as efficient and profitable as possible.
  • Ensure that any comments or complaints are reported to the relevant manager immediately so that a resolution can be offered. To report any complaints or comments immediately to the Manager.
  • Re-stock and replenish any relevant items required for the following service.
  • Work collaboratively to deliver the KPIs of the food and beverage department
  • Work with your immediate and the wider F&B team to ensure service excellence is front and centre of everything you do.
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks as directed by Management
  • Compliance, Health & Safety
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming dining area, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety, hygiene regulations, and all policies and procedures are followed to maintain safe working conditions for all the team.
  • Ensure full adherence to the licence operating requirements which always require compliance.

    Prior experience working as in a similar role or customer facing role in a private members club , luxury /high end F&B environment
  • A passion for hospitality with an understanding of basic food and beverage knowledge and a genuine desire to provide memorable dining experience for guests
  • Have a commitment to excellent customer care and able to demonstrate this
  • Passion for championing diversity, equality, equity and inclusion
  • You will possess a friendly demeanour
  • Willing to undertake training for Health & Safety purposes
  • You will need to be an excellent communicator with a good command of spoken and written English
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced professional in a fast paced environment
  • Enthusiasm and lots of energy coupled with the ability to remain composed under pressure
  • A desire to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
